Senior Pictures

I got my senior pictures done today. I was very excited. I went with Tommie Huffman and she took my pictures for about an hour and 15 minutes. I did the cap and gown at her studio first and then we did the casual poses at other locations. We went to the Santa Fe depot by Los Panchitos and took a couple a shots there (I say a couple, I really mean a about a hundred). After that, we went to the painted alley downtown and the old Texas theater. It is really neat back there. She put a little sneak preview of my session on her blog. You can check it out here. Here is one of my favorite ones.

My Birthday

Today I turned 18! It was a very good day because I got up and went to eat at Rooster's with my family (thats a very good restaurant, by the way). I went to the mall and bought a shirt and tie for tomorrow. I also bought some shoes. When I got to work, one of my managers wrote "Happy Birthday Josiah!!" on the setup sheet so when I got there I saw it. Tonight, Bill said he was leaving and so we all said bye. My job tonight was headset on B-Side so I was taking all the orders. Suddenly, everyone started singing Happy Birthday to me and Bill came up to the front with a beautiful cake. Now, this is all happening and I am trying to take an order so it was really difficult to hear the customer. But I loved the cake. I wish I was like Bethany and always carried a camera with me because this cake was so nice, I didn't want to cut it. It was chocolate with cherry filling on the inside. It was so delicious!! When I got home I got a card from my aunt in Coppell that said "To the best actor". So anyway, I had a very good day.

Yeah, we're gonna Bop, Bop, Bop

Yesterday, I was extremely nervous because I had a callback for the part of Ryan Evans, the part that I really want! I was really nervous because I had been in bed sick for three days and was still trying to completely recover. Anyway, so I just got up and I checked the cast list and I sat there so excited. I got the part of Ryan Evans!! Actually, they double-casted the leads so I am only him one weekend and there is another guy for the other weekend. We are running in May 16-18 and May 22-25 so I am so excited. Here is a picture of what Ryan Evans looks like in the movie.

Yes, I know. I am going to be transformed into that! Anyway, so my director told me that he has the hit some really high notes in the play. What they had me do was sing "Row your Boat" six times, each time going up a half-step. Yeah, it got pretty high but I think I got it. Anyway, here'a a little biography of Ryan Evan's character:

Ryan Evans is the twin brother and acting partner of Sharpay Evans, with whom he has starred in seventeen school productions to date. In High School Musical, both Ryan and his sister function as antagonists, while in High School Musical 2, he becomes a protagonist. Ryan is an excellent dancer and singer, tending to lean toward high-energy, upbeat songs and expressive choreography, often to the point of absurdity. He has a much more highly developed sense of fashion than most East High students, wearing button down shirts and slacks and topping each outfit with some type of floppy hat. The hats are one of Ryan's most notable features; he wears over twenty different hats. In High School Musical on Stage, both Ryan and his sister funk it up as antagonists attempting to keep Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez from winning the lead roles in the school's winter musical, Romeo and Juliet. In spite of a few moments where Ryan appears annoyed by Sharpay's domineering attitude, he accepts her leadership unquestioningly throughout the play

So thats a little bit about my character. Gosh, can you tell that I'm excited about this? I will be posting more, don't worry!

3 1/2 days-4 1/2 days

That is how long our week lasts and how long our weekend lasts! Yes! I love short weeks and long weekends!

It's hard to believe, that I couldn't see

Yesterday, I auditioned for the stage version of High School Musical! The first thing we did was sing and then danced, and then did some reads. When I went in to sing, I sang the song I had practiced for the audition, Santa Fe. I got through the middle of it and they stopped me. I got, "Great Job!" "That was so awesome Josiah!" "That sounded fantastic!" and "I love it!" I was then asked to sing "Jingle Bells", "Silent Night", and "What I've Been Looking For" (a song from High School Musical).

After the solos, we were shown some of the choreography in the song "Stick to the Status Quo". It was really difficult because there was alot of jumping and alot of feet work and hand work, and it all went really fast. It was fun, though.

We then did the reads and those were fun. I read twice for Ryan and once for Chad. For those of you who do not know any characters, Ryan is a thespian who has been the lead in plays with his sister, Sharpay (who is also his twin) since kindergarten. Chad is a basketball player who puts his friends at risk just to win the state championship. In this play, there are six leads, 3 boys and 3 girls. Ryan is the second guy lead, and Chad is the third guy lead.

There is another audition on Saturday and Callbacks are next Sunday at 2. The cast list will be posted next Monday. I am eager to see if I get a callback.
